Attorney Hugh F. Ferguson brings a wealth of human services experience to the firm. Along with his law credentials, Mr. Ferguson is also a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and has been involved in hundreds of multi-faceted family dispute situations over the years. He is a former Supervisor for the Massachusetts Department of Social Services.

Mr. Ferguson is a member of the Massachusetts and American Bar Associations, the National Association of Parent Coordinators, the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, and the Collaborative Law Council. Mr. Ferguson regularly accepts appointments as a Guardian Ad Litem in the Probate and Family Courts to represent the interest of the minor. Mr. Ferguson is a retired United States Army Officer, having served for 23 years.

As a family law attorney and mental health professional, Mr. Ferguson is frequently called upon by the media for his expert commentary in these areas. Most recently, he was a guest on the national television program, The O’Reilly Factor, where host Bill O’Reilly interviewed Mr. Ferguson regarding issues involving a high-profile political family.

He is also a principal in the Center for Problem Resolution, Inc., which has been approved by the Superior Court and Probate Family Courts of Massachusetts as a provider of court-connected mediation services.

He also co-authored an article, with Jonathan Fields, Esq., “Family Team Decision Making,” which appeared in the Fall 2005 edition of the Family Mediation Quarterly published by the Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation. Mr. Ferguson was recently admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for Veteran’s Claims.

Education

Mr. Ferguson received a J.D. degree from The New England School of Law, a Ph.D. from Life Christian University and Seminary, an Ed.M. degree from Boston College and a B.A.degree from Methodist College. Mr. Ferguson is currently enrolled in the University of London Family Law LL.M. program.
